Gran Enemigo Single Vineyard Gualtallary
“Adrianna and I make it in honor of the old Pomerol style where Cabernet Franc was blended with the other Bordeaux varieties,” says Alejandro.
This is the world’s highest rated Cabernet Franc by Robert Parker with 100 points.
Varietal Composition:
85% Cabernet Franc 15% Malbec. Red wine made from grapes cultivated in calcareous, rocky soils in Gualtallary, Tupungato, Mendoza, at 1470 masl. High density (10.000 plants per hectare).
Suggested Food Pairings:
Ideal with reverse seared rib eye, stewed game.
Vinification-Aging:
Fermentation in barrel, average temperature: 22ºC. Cold maceration for 5 days. Average maceration 23 days. 30% whole bunch. French oak barrels 2nd and 3rd use. 4 different harvest times (1,5 month between the first and the last one). 12 months in 100 year old foudres.
Color:
Brigth ruby color.
Aroma:
Very complex aromas of blackberry, dark mushroom, blueberry, bell pepper and flint notes .
Flavor:
Medium bodied, with high almost citric acidity, fresh yet deep fruit, elegant but with strength. Long charming finish.
Suggested Serving Temperature:
Between 16ºC and 18ºC.
